Presidential Convoy Kills Motor Rider In Tamale

A vehicle belonging to a member of the National Democratic Congress that was moving with the presidential convoy from the residency around the Northern Regional Coordinating Council hit one Dawuda, a 26-year-old motorbike rider.

The Northern Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who narrated the incident, told DAILY GUIDE that it was not true that it was the president’s car that hit the deceased, pointing out that rather a car that was moving with the presidential convoy hit the gentleman.

He stated that the convoy was moving from the residency to the airport when Dawuda, who was using the other lane of the road, accidentally crossed the other part of the convoy, resulting in the crash between the Toyota Camry car with registration number GE 1880-09 and the motorbike of the deceased.

ASP Tetteh indicated that Dawuda was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where he was admitted but was pronounced dead Saturday evening.

He said a postmortem had been conducted and the body had since been given to the family for burial.
.

The driver of the car, Adams Mohammed, has been detained by the police and the vehicle has been impounded.

An investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
