Man Jailed For Circulating Pictures Of Naked Women

A 26-year-old man who circulated on social media platforms, pictures and videos of some nude young girls and pregnant women in labour, has been sentenced to four months’ imprisonment by the Salaga Magistrate’s Court.

The pictures, according to the police, were allegedly taken by a nurse at the Salaga Government Hospital, who is currently on the run and is being sought by the police.

The convict, Yusif Yunuf, who was arrested at Salaga on March 8, 2016, pleaded guilty to the charge of circulating obscene materials.

A memory card containing the pictures was also retrieved from Yunuf after his arrest by the police.

Facts

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, who briefed the Daily Graphic, said the convict was arrested following a tip-off.

He said when Yunuf was arrested he told the police that he chanced on the memory card containing the pictures on the ground while he was returning home after prayers and forwarded the pictures to others via social media.

Mr Tetteh said the convict was also suspected to be behind the escape of the nurse, Evans Okyere, also known as Mubarak, the prime suspect behind the pictures and videos.

He said the convict in his statement to the police confessed to the crime and was charged with the offence.

Recall

The Daily Graphic in its Saturday, February 27, 2016 edition published a story with the headline “Nurse on the run, wanted for allegedly having sex with patients”.

It was based on the story that the police mounted a search for the suspect which led to the Yunuf’s arrest.
