BoG Governor To Resign?

Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Dr Henry Kofi Wampah is likely to exit from the bank soon as pressure mounts on him to do so.

Dr Henry Kofi Wampah for some time now has been criticized over his approach in managing a number of issues in the sector he regulates.

Top among them is the management of the country’s currency the cedi as well as the microfinance sector.

But the recent arrest of David McDermott, an alleged drug baron, who is married to his step daughter is further increasing pressure for him to bow out.

Calls for his resignation

MPs recently called for his head following the DKM microfinance and God is Love fraud saga.

Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Matthew Opoku Prempeh for example early this month insisted that Dr Henry Kofi Wampah steps down as he believes the central bank has failed in supervising the microfinance sector.

Matthew Opoku Prempeh who made the call when Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah addressed MPs on recent developments in the microfinance sector said ‘as honorable members of this house who passed the Bank of Ghana act, these Micro Finance companies come under the direct supervision of Bank of Ghana.

Unfortunately, lack of effective supervision on the part of the central bank has resulted in these cases. You cannot fire the governor of the Bank of Ghana, He has to step down.’’

President loses confidence in him?

The president John Mahama in his state of the nation address recently also hit hard at Dr Wampah for failing to manage the microfinance sector leading to its troubles.

31 year old man can no longer have sex after losing half of his penis

 A man who thought torn skin on his penis was the result of over-enthusiastic sex was horrified to discover he was actually suffering from ultra-rare penile cancer .

Wayne Martin, 31, has lost most of his penis after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, which invaded his urethra and shaft and subsequently became penile cancer .

He was given the all-clear in January this year and has now decided to share his story in a bid to warn other young men that – though the rare disease is often found in older patients – it can affect them too.

Wayne, who can no longer have full penetrative sex, which he said affects his dating life, is believed to be one of the youngest sufferers.

“I found out on my 29th birthday I had penile cancer,” he said in his first ever interview, explaining he had suffered symptoms for eight months before being diagnosed.

“Symptoms had been present for approximately eight months before being diagnosed.

“I can remember it first being present around Thanksgiving 2012.”

The government employee of Tallahassee, Florida, USA, described the cut on his penis as initially being like “torn skin.”

Father burns 4 year old son for stealing maize

Takudzwa Mutero called for help from a passerby,Chihwai Murehwa,after his father Wilson Mutero,26,burnt him and tied him to a tree in the middle of a maize field.

Takudzwa,who sustained burns on his left hand,head,right leg and scar on his back and buttocks,was on Saturday rushed to Manera Clinic and later transferred to Harare Central Hospital.

Wilson,a former Kombi conductor in Mufakose,was saved by police officers from further beatings by villagers who teamed up against him.He was arrested and was detained at Nyamweda police base as of Saturday while Mashonaland West police spokesperson,Inspector Clement Mabweazara could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.

Wilson’s sister Nomatter Mutero told H-Metro that her brother was left in the custody of the two kids after his wife left him over infidelity issues.

“I am really shocked by such kind of cruelty shown by my brother.

“Mweya wakaipa chaiwo wakamupinda,”said Nomatter.

“His wife packed her bags and left leaving two kids after it emerged that she was cheating with our cousin and two other villagers in Mhondoro-Ngezi where we live.

Outrage as zoo keeper is caught on camera 'performing sex act on dolphin'

A zoo has been criticised after footage appeared to show a keeper performing a sex act on a dolphin .

But investigators say the act isn’t a crime because it was part of a “breeding programme”.

Since the video was released online, furious animal campaigners have slammed the Dolphinarium in Hardewijk, Netherlands.

They branded it an “underwater circus” and are calling for it to be shut down immediately.

Undercover footage showed a dolphin lying on its back in what appears to be an indoor pool.

A male zookeeper leans over the sea mammal and uses his glove hand to perform the sex act before feeding the dolphin a fish.

The zoo has claimed the weird act is to “de-stress” the animals.

Homosexuals Killing Nollywood - Mr Ibu

Nollywood actor and comedian John Okafor is often called Mr. Ibu as a reference to his most famous and successful movie role.

In a brief chat with Nigeriafilms.com, the Enugu state born veteran actor bares his mind on the issues of homosexuals taking over their Nigerian movie industry.

Mr. Ibu also spoke on the real problems of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN; ‘’ we only want the government to give some lands and a site to build film village. Once that is done, we promise never to bother them ever again. We need to have structures down for our children and future sake, he added.

I Lied About Nana Addo - 'Security Expert' Ibard Ibrahim

Ibard Ibrahim, the young man who claims to be a security expert has apologized to leader of the main opposition Nana Akufo-Addo, for comments made in the wake of the arrival of the two ex-Guantanamo Bay detainees to Ghana.

In a statement, Ibrahim, who was lashed at following his claims the opposition leader had prior knowledge of the arrival of the two, confessed to lying, adding he was not well informed.

The militant attack in Ivory Coast shows how vulnerable Ghana is to possible attacks by militants from the Sahel region and North Africa.

This has nothing to do with playing host to only two ex-Gitmo detainees. I sincerely apologize to Nana Addo and the NPP for an error in the intelligence info about being informed of the ex-detainees 6 months before their arrival.

That inelligence gap is sincerely regrettable and won‘t happen again. In the same vein, I admire His Excelleny John Dramani Mahama and appreciate the efforts our dear President and the ruling NDC are making to keep the nation safe from attacks. Ghanaians should not panic. We have a diligent police force and a robust army on standby to keep the nation safe. Ghana will continue to remain safe if:

1. We don’t pursue a belligerent foreign policy and stick to peacekeeping missions abroad

3. End youth despondency by creating jobs to profitably engage our teeming exuberant youth whose frustration could be used as a recruitment bonanza

3. Tighten border controls and beef up security at malls, hotels, resorts, bus terminals, universities etc

4. Engage the world in peace building and ending the conflicts in South Sudan, Libya, the Central African Republic etc- Peace Ambassador Irbard Ibrahim

DCOP Awuni has died

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni, has died. He died at the Police Hospital in Accra Monday morning after a short illness.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaa, has confirmed the death to Joy News.

“We are all shocked to the core,” ACP Abass said, sounding very emotional and devastated. “In his brief stay with us here, he has introduced his dynamism, his frankness, his utmost honesty that he is made up of had an impact on all of us here.”

“He spoke his mind. He fought corruption with all his zeal. And it didn’t matter whose ox was gored, Awuni would put it bluntly to you when you are wrong,” ACP Abass said.

“I can say Awuni has no peers in the Ghana Police Service,” he said.

DCOP Awuni was Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department at the Headquarters before becoming the Eastern Regional Police Commander in the last reshuffle of senior police officers.

Sources close to him have told manassehazure.com that he complained about toothache and went to the Koforidua Regional Hospital for a check up. At the hospital, however, “his temperature suddenly started rising very fast” and he was admitted.

He was on admission at the hospital in Koforidua for five days before being referred to the Police Hospital in Accra. “Yesterday (Sunday, March 13) was exactly one week since he was brought to the Police Hospital in Accra,” the source told manassehazure.com.

“We visited him on Saturday and had a chat with him. He was moving about and appeared fine so we least expected this news,” the source said.

DCOP Awuni will be remembered for his no-nonsense disposition and frankness. In 2012, he ordered the arrest of former Greater Accra Regional Minister and MP for Klottey Korle Constituency, Nii Armah Ashietey, when he misconducted himself at a polling station during the registration process.
